According to France-based MacGeneration, which has offered both accurate and inaccurate information in the past, Apple’s next media event will be held on Tuesday, October 15th. Apple is expected to debut a series of new products by the end of this year, including multiple new iPad models, several new Macs, OS X Mavericks, and perhaps an update to Apple TV hardware. Today’s report also claims that iMac stock is constrained, something we reported earlier this month....

A May ChangeWave survey of 2,049 respondents reveals a still soft corporate technology spending environment in which Research In Motion continues to dominate the smart phone market. The survey was conducted among respondents with purchasing responsibility at their firms. BlackBerry grew its lead, climbing three points to secure 76 per cent of the market, Palm its already vast lead (76%; up 3-pts) in the corporate smart phone market. Second-place Palm lost one point to take 17 per cent, “and shows no signs of halting its long-term decline,” the researchers said....

Update: Dave Zatz has obtained images of the upcoming Playbar, while also corroborating our report of a new Play:5 and Sub. The Sonos Playbar was first released in February of 2013 and has gone without an update since then. In 2017, Sonos released the Playbase (full review) followed by the smaller and more affordable Beam in 2018 (full review). Most notably, according to our tipster, the upcoming refreshed Playbar will add support for Dolby Atmos....

They apparently didn’t get the message about not naming cord-free earbuds with a singular naming scheme, so this new product from Bragi is awkwardly named, “The Headphone.” But branding aside, these earbuds have made quite an improvement over the company’s first-generation product called “The Dash,” which was one of the first to hit the market a year ago. My biggest complaint when testing The Dash was half-baked fitness features, unnecessary built-in storage, and sloppy touch controls that cluttered what could have been an otherwise decent cord-free earbud experience....

As “really good Mac accessory ideas” go, Thunderbolt docks are high on the list. It’s hard to overstate the sheer convenience of connecting a bunch of peripherals to a central hub, then running one Thunderbolt cable from the hub to your Mac — a huge time-saver if you’re frequently bringing any Thunderbolt-equipped MacBook in and out of an office full of hardware. Earlier this year, Elgato’s original Thunderbolt Dock brought that convenience to Macs with first-generation Thunderbolt Ports....

At the end of Chapter 8, “The Outsiders”, we saw Polly make the decision to move in with the Blossom family rather than back to the Cooper household. While neither are exactly an enticing prospect, there’s an air of dark secrecy surrounding the Blossom family that makes them a very strange choice, but Polly said she thinks they can offer her baby a better chance in life, and that’s why they always win: money....

Rocketman star Richard Madden feels that cutting the sex scene from the Elton John biopic would’ve been a disservice. Although the actor made a name for himself portraying Robb Stark during the early seasons of Game of Thrones, he has more recently become better known for his work in Bodyguard. Madden can currently be seen playing Elton John’s first manger and lover, John Reid, in Rocketman. Rocketman stars Taron Egerton as famed musician Elton John....

Rogue Company is one of the newly released third-person shooter online multiplayer free-to-play video games that are developed by First Watch Games and published by Hi-Rez Studios in 2020. The game is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch platforms. But just like other PC games, the Rogue Company PC version also comes with multiple issues or errors that several PC users are experiencing while launching or loading the game....

John Knoll, who created the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story concept, is working on another anthology idea in the Star Wars universe. Lucasfilm’s first foray into anthology films proved to be a massive success. Rogue One debuted to mostly positive reviews and went on to gross well over $1 billion dollars at the box office. Characters such as Donnie Yen’s spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe and Alan Tudyk’s sarcastic droid K-2SO are beloved by the fans....

Apple’s annual shareholders meeting is taking place today at its headquarters in Cupertino where shareholders vote on proposals from both Apple management and other shareholders, and Apple fields questions from attendees at the meeting. While shareholder meetings aren’t broadcasted like earnings calls, a few members of the media are in attendance to report the event’s activities. The 2017 iPad that Apple launched earlier this year was inexpensive, but it was also about dealing with various compromises. The display, for instance, lacked anti-glare and lamination properties of more modern iPads, and the speakers weren’t nearly as good as the latest Apple hardware. But price can be a compelling feature as well, and the 2017 iPad’s $329 entry point appealed to the masses. The new iPad Pro, however, concedes nothing to price....

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker visual effects supervisor Roger Guyett says there were no plans to have Anakin Skywalker and Ben Solo Force ghosts appear. In the film’s final scene, Rey visits the Lars homestead on Tatooine, burying Luke and Leia’s lightsabers together in the sand. When asked by a passerby what her name is, Rey sees the spirits of her old teachers and introduces herself as Rey Skywalker, symbolically rejecting her blood heritage as a Palpatine as she assumes a new identity....

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams (seriously) claims the film’s marketing campaign isn’t all that secretive. By now, viewers are well aware Disney takes a very measured approach to promoting the modern Star Wars movies. Dating back to the original Force Awakens teaser trailer from November 2014, the studio’s advertising materials are largely absent of any concrete plot details, relying more on nostalgia, atmosphere, and theory-generating out-of-context shots to sell the upcoming projects....

The ears (or lack thereof) on the bat symbol of Robert Pattinson’s costume in The Batman features an interesting callback to the Dark Knight’s very first comic book appearance, going all the way back to 1939. Recently, The Batman director Matt Reeves released a test video that showed off the new Batsuit. The test video avoids showing viewers a full look at the costume, but it did provide a fairly detailed preview of Batman’s chest armor, Bat symbol, and the bottom half of his mask....

Roku’s CEO today sat down with CNBC to discuss Apple bringing its refreshed TV app along with its two new streaming services to third-party platforms. The move is a departure for Apple as the company normally keeps its software and apps limited to its own hardware. Roku’s CEO, Anthony Wood, said in an interview that Apple’s current customer base of iPhone, iPad, and Mac owners may help kick off interest in the new Apple TV+ streaming service, but that the majority viewers are using streaming services directly from their smart TV....

Apple describes CarPlay as “a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone in the car” because tasks like making phone calls, sending messages, finding directions, and playing music from your iPhone are completed using Siri and the car’s touch screen rather than fiddling with your phone in your hand....
