Roku has licensed movie deals with studios like Lionsgate, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. While other content will come from other Roku channel publishers like Popcornflix and FilmRise. “You’ll find quality films such as Ali, The Karate Kid, Legally Blonde, and many others from leading studios including Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Brothers among others,” writes Roku VP of Programming Rob Holmes in today’s announcement from Roku. “The Roku Channel also features a broad selection of free entertainment from existing Roku channel publishers such as American Classics, FilmRise, Popcornflix, Vidmark and YuYu (and others over time)....

I’m a fairly tough sell when it comes to iPhone and iPad cases. I’ve mostly not used a case on my iPhone, and my iPad lives uncased at home and attached to my Brydge keyboard when on the move. Despite shipping 52.3 million BlackBerrys in their last fiscal year – a 43 percent annual unit growth – he kinda slipped in that rivals like Apple are racing ahead and stealing the headlines....

Feral Interactive has announced that the historical strategy game ROME: Total War – already available for iPad – will be coming to the iPhone on August 23 … The company promises that it will be a full version of the game, though with features tailored to the phone – including a new user-interface with enhanced touch controls. It will use the latest Metal API for improved performance, enhanced graphics and reduced battery usage....

I love it when an app developer takes one of my minor grumbles and comes up with a simple solution. PopCalc is one of those. There are times when I have a few sums to do, and the standard calculator app is a bit too dumb, while creating a spreadsheet in Numbers feels like overkill. What I really want is a cross between the two: the simplicity of a calculator, but some of the functionality of a spreadsheet....

Vicki Gunvalson has announced that she will depart from The Real Housewives of Orange County. The fan favorite has called it quits after one too many seasons of being just a friend. Before the last season premiered, it was announced that Gunvalson would be demoted from the cast earlier this year to friend status.
