The start of the year heralded a frenzy of foldables, although an actual product is yet to hit consumer shelves after reviewers found that the Samsung Galaxy Fold phone suffered from display durability issues and the company indefinitely delayed the launch. A report from IHS Markit, via Economic Daily News, says that Apple is developing a foldable of its own; not a phone but a foldable iPad. It’s not clear if the foldable iPad would be a bending single screen experience like the Samsung and Huawei phone prototypes, or if it would be closer to a laptop form factor with dual screens, with a display on each part of the case, presumably instead of a physical keyboard....

Potential Apple partner Energous has once again further delayed the release of their wireless charging technology. In a phone call with the CEO today, Energous stated that plans changed after “key strategic partnership” was made. That doesn’t mean wireless charging is down for the count at this year’s CES though. Ossia is set to launch Cota Tile, a ceiling that can deliver wireless power to compatible devices. Energous is best known for its WattUp wire-free charging technology that allows devices to charge wirelessly when it’s in range of a transmitter....

Apple is widely expected to transition the iPad Pro lineup to mini LED displays starting in the first quarter of 2021. A new report today from the Korean supply chain outlet The Elec, however, says that Apple is also planning to adopt OLED screens in the iPad Pro lineup.
