The CW has become well known for its television series based on comic book characters. The network’s superhero universe - consisting of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl - is based on DC Comics heroes, while iZombie is an adaptation of the Vertigo books of the same name. The CW added another comic-inspired series to its lineup this season with Riverdale, adapting classic characters from Archie Comics for a teen drama focused on a murder mystery wrapped up in a Twin Peaks tone....

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story finally debuted in Chinese theaters on Friday after a three-week head start nearly everywhere else in the world. The huge global success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was expected to carry over with Rogue One, the first standalone movie in the history of the Star Wars franchise. While Disney’s risks have largely paid off in terms of commercial and critical success, it remained to be seen how it would perform in China....

Angry Birds maker Rovio has announced a new feature coming soon to its titles that will allow users to save game data in the cloud and resume playing where they left off on any device. It’s a feature that is still missing from many mobile games on the App Store, especially those that implement cross platform support for other devices such as Android and Mac. There’s no word on exactly what games Rovio plans to support with the new feature, but it is already rolling out its new “Rovio Account” to users of The Croods game across the globe and some Angry Birds users in locations such as Poland and Finland....

When you think of Thunderbolt 3 accessories, there are only a handful of companies as prolific as Akitio. I’m a big-screen fan. It’s the reason my primary Mac is still a 17-inch MacBook Pro, and why I have that hooked up to a 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display when I’m in my home office. When Apple revealed on Tuesday that the current Mac Pro will not see a major update and instead an all-new modular Mac Pro is being developed, the company stopped short of saying just when that decision was made and how long ago the new project started. Apple said the modular Mac Pro won’t be available in 2017, but didn’t explicitly promise the new machine would be ready next year. OSNews managing editor Thom Holwerda believes the project actually started “only a few weeks ago” and won’t be complete as soon as we may expect....

It’s finally here. Tapbots unleashed a new member of their extremely popular Tweetbot family on the world today in the form of Tweetbot for Mac. The iPhone comes with a pretty decent weather app, but many people find it to be lacking. Aside from the fact that it only predicts up to seven days of weather, many find its forecasts—which are powered by Yahoo!—to be somewhat inaccurate. That’s a void that WeatherSnitch 2 is eager to fill. WeatherSnitch’s interface is packed with all the weather-related information you could possibly want, but presented in a neat and orderly way that makes sense....

The mid-season finale of Rick and Morty season 4, “Rattlestar Ricklactica,” paid homage to a number of movies that involved time travel. The episode also explored several classic science-fiction concepts, such as going back in time to kill Hitler or save Abraham Lincoln, that have been done, redone and parodied so much they are practically a genre unto themselves. The plot of “Rattlestar Ricklactica” focused on how Morty’s attempts to ease his own guilt at killing the first astronaut from a civilization of space snakes spiraled out of control....

With the upcoming debut of the fourth season of Riverdale, fans everywhere are looking forward to more mystery, drama and deceit among the residents of the small town we’ve come to love. There’s always plenty of angst, plot thickenings and twists in store. The last three seasons have placed us in whirlwinds beyond our wildest dreams. Relationships have certainly been a part of that phenomenon. In all that time, we’ve had relationships we’ve supported, and some not so much....

Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) may get a lot of negative reviews from horror fans who are loyal to Carpenter’s 1978 original, but Zombie did his best to adapt from the source while putting his own spin on the material. In 1980, Carpenter sold the television rights to Halloween to NBC for approximately $3 million. The edited version of Carpenter’s original film aired for the first time in October 1981. In order to satisfy the Standards and Practices department of NBC, Carpenter had to film an additional twelve minutes of footage that would be edited into the final cut and replace many of the murder scenes....

The report sent Roku shares down 8% in late trading. The report follows a mixed Q3 report in which Roku said supply-chain disruption was affecting the TV market through the holidays, and that advertisers were trimming their ad spend, leading to a lower-than-expected forecast at the time. During a conference call with media following the report, CFO Steve Louden said TV supply-chain issues such as short supply of chips to build TVs, and the breakdown of advertising “verticals,” continues to affect the outlook for the current quarter....
