Microsoft service tools for Surface devices are now available from iFixit.com. Currently, three Microsoft-designed repair tools are being manufactured and sold by iFixit, enabling “precision debunking and rebounding” of components set in place with an adhesive. Notably, adhesives are one of iFixit’s main gripes about the design of modern laptops since components can’t be removed with a simple screwdriver. The ideal state is a modular design. iFixit says adhesives present one of the most challenging aspects of repairing Surface laptops because the adhesive needs to be carefully unfastened without damaging other components....

Dom reviewed Ring’s iPhone-linked Video Doorbell last year, and was impressed. I was too, with two minor complaints: video is 720p rather than full HD, and it only connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Ring has addressed both issues with its new Video Doorbell Pro, offering 1080p video and connecting to 5Ghz Wi-Fi as well as 2.4GHz. Roku is today launching an updated mobile app that introduces a redesigned user interface to make content easier to access alongside a new ‘What’s On’ guide that serves up recommendations on what to watch. Roku says the aim of the redesign is to provide easier one-tap access to the most commonly used features. That includes the ability to start a stream with one tap of a channel from the app’s main screen, and a new navigation bar will let you pull up other features you might need quick access to including search, the remote control, and options for sending content to your TV....

A new rumor suggests Apple’s over-ear headphones will carry the “AirPods Studio” branding with a $350 price point. The headphones are expected to be released later this year, according to reports from sources including Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo. Today’s rumor comes from YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser. Prosser suggests that Apple’s long-rumored over-ear headphones will be named “AirPods Studio” and come in at $349. A new report from the supply chain outlet Macotakara today sheds more light on what to expect from the iPad lineup in 2021. Ricky Martin is to join forces with Ryan Murphy once more by appearing in his anthology show, American Crime Story. Murphy serves as showrunner for the FX show, which garnered critical acclaim with its first season, The People v. O.J. Simpson. The ending of the Skywalker saga has proven to be a divisive one for fans and critics alike; going into the final film, Disney/Lucasfilm was very aware of their burden of resolving over 40 years of storytelling. That burden might have crippled their desire to find an ending equatable to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’s satisfying resolution....

It was a fun ride while it lasted, but writer/director Rob Zombie shouldn’t make a sequel to 3 From Hell, and instead let the Fireflies retire. The road from House of 1000 Corpses to 3 From Hell was a long one. Zombie’s 2003 directorial debut, House of 1000 Corpses almost didn’t get released, until Lionsgate swooped in to save the day. When Zombie returned to the Firefly well for 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects, he crafted what was less of a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses and more a 1970s grindhouse exploitation movie that happened to star Otis, Baby, and Captain Spaulding....
