One of the claims made by ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft is being challenged by a new report, which suggests that they make congestion worse, not better … Ride-sharing services argue that if people can get a ride when they need one, they are less likely to own a car, reducing the number of cars on the road and leading to less traffic. However, the Washington Post says a new report has suggested that this isn’t what happens in reality, and that pool services like UberPool and Lyft Line are making things even worse....

Allegations of a Robinhood collusion with Citadel are being investigated by Congress, and a new report today says that CEO Vlad Tenev will testify before the House Financial Services Committee. Lucasfilm’s Cassian Andor live-action Star Wars series is confirmed for a 2021 premiere on Disney+, and Alan Tudyk is returning as K-2SO. The actor first appeared as the character in 2016’s spinoff film Rogue One, where he quickly became a fan-favorite character. A reprogrammed Imperial droid, K2 was known for his blunt sense of humor and undying loyalty to Cassian. The two had a long history that was only hinted at in their lone big screen appearance, leaving viewers wanting to see more of the duo in action....

Robert Evans, the legendary producer who gave the world Chinatown, The Godfather, Rosemary’s Baby, and more classic films, died this week at the age of 89. In the 1960s, Evans ran production at Paramount Pictures, and his credits include many of the era’s most memorable movies. In addition to the first two Godfather films, Evans helped create The Italian Job, Harold and Maude, True Grit, and Love Story. As an actor, he appeared in The Sun Also Rises and The Best of Everything....

Flexbits, makers of the popular Fantastical Mac app, launched an iPhone version of its streamlined calendar app this morning with the goal of bringing the simplicity and user-friendly experience it has become known for on the Mac to iOS users. The new Fantastical app might not be as feature-filled as other third-party calendar iOS apps, but what it lacks in features it certainly makes up for in style. After a week with Fantastical for iPhone, I can confidently say the app feels like the calendar upgrade iOS 6 was missing....

The long-awaited season 4 of Rick and Morty is almost here, and the trailer has confirmed several returning characters - including Messrs Meeseeks and Poopybutthole. Premiering in 2013, Rick and Morty became a monster hit for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block. Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Batman star Robert Pattinson drops a Joaquin Phoenix Joker spoiler in an interview, then retracts it - so what did he accidentally reveal? In recent years, Warner Bros’ Worlds of DC franchise has evolved from a simple cinematic universe (though that still exists in the form of the DC Extended Universe) to include films set in separate universes. The first of these is Todd Phillips’ Joker, which doesn’t continue the continuity from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad - in which Jared Leto played the Joker - and instead follows a different version of the character played by Phoenix....

Although Phase One movies like Iron Man and The Avengers had comic relief in spades, the first overtly comedic entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Perhaps the Guardians’ funniest member is Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper. Cooper has said that his performance as Rocket was inspired by Joe Pesci’s Oscar-winning portrayal of fast-talking hothead Tommy DeVito in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. After Mophie and several other companies created the “iPhone battery case” category, Apple’s Made for iPhone accessory team quietly began to limit what the cases could do. Riot Games’ gender discrimination lawsuit settlement could be a lot worse than it originally was. The settlement will bring about the end of a lawsuit filed against Riot in the months following the reveal of a culture of discrimination against female job candidates and employees. Numerous former and current employees came forward with stories of how they were mistreated by the maker of League of Legends. Now, the lawsuit is coming to a close - but there are a few issues that need to be dealt with first....
